Over the last few years, I’ve attended WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) one of the biggest photographer conferences held in Las Vegas. Every year thousands of photographers from around the world travel to WPPI’s annual convention to watch the Prestigious Awards of Excellence print competition judging and Awards Ceremony. The annual print competitions is considered  the Oscars of  the photography industry.

With our little one on the way, in just a few short weeks, I was home, but thankful to have many friends updating me about the competition.  I am so grateful to have won four prestigious international awards and have my work considered as some of the best photography in the world for 2013.  There are so many amazing photographers out there, the competition pushes me further each year.  Below are my WPPI 2013 winning category award and Accolade of Excellence awards for the 16×20 Awards of Excellence print competition.

Every year, our vision grows as our customers needs and wants evolve. One important change in 2012 as you know, is our popular EZ Pay plan and new in 2013 we are offering Saturday portrait sessions this Summer and evening viewing appointments on Tuesdays (with limited availability initially).

The EZ Pay Plan

For those of you who didn’t know about our EZ Pay plan, it has been a terrific option for our clients in the last year.

We realize that the investment in commissioned portraiture can be significant.  Our passion lies in capturing the gloriously fleeting moments you want to hold onto forever.  We hope to achieve this every single day together with you.  We put a beautifully modern spin on traditional painted portraiture. As master artisans we transform our stunning photographs into fine art heirlooms that you and your family will endlessly treasure.  And as such we have attempted to make it as easy as possible for you to invest in commissioned portraiture.

Our interest-free EZ Pay plan allows you to split your payments in three monthly payments for orders over $1,500.  You can secure your first payment with a credit card, and we will ask you to sign the agreement, which will permit us to bill this same card for the remaining payments. Extended Tuesday hours & Weekend hours this Summer!

Our clients have such busy schedules at work and with family.  New for 2013, we are offering Saturday commissioned portrait sessions and evening viewing appointments at the Castle. In the winter, the castle was closed weekends, but we’re excited to announce we are opening our studio for commission portraits on Saturday with limited availability initially.   Please inquire within and reserve your date!

We’ve designated Tuesday for viewing appointments.  We have two appointments Tuesday evening to accommodate our busy clients schedules.

Why did we create the Je Revele Baby Plan?

So many of our families come to us several times a year to capture their babies milestones.   We make babies first year albums for everyone.  Some of our moms find with their second, third or fourth baby, that time passes by ever so fast and they wish they kept up with the tradition making a first year album.

Well don’t worry, leave that up to us!  There are many milestones and that first year is gone in the blink of an eye. We can plan newborn, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 12 month photos and invite you back in to capture those fleeting moments.  And don’t worry, if 5 sessions a year isn’t enough we can plan one session a month or  we can photograph your little one for their newborn, 6 and 12 month photos.  We customize our baby plans for each of our families!

That’s why we encourage our clients to get creative in choosing how to decorate their walls. Personal photographs will evoke a much deeper meaning than cookie-cutter decorations. They reflect the things that are most important in your world—your family, the places you’ve been, memories of shared times. They also take you back to the experience behind the image, and that journey is accessible with every glance.

The Importance of Color in Photographs

COLOR

Whether you realize it or not, the colors that surround you are actually impacting your mood. One of my clients recently confided to me that her son was generally overstimulated and had a hard time winding down before bedtime. I suggested she consider outfitting his bedroom with images that reflect an aura of calm and serenity. She loved the idea and commissioned us to shoot a series of images whose subject matter and color palette are soothing to her son (We’ll share those at a later date!).

For years, scientists have been studying the effect of color and visual imagery on the human psyche. Studies show that certain colors can actually produce chemical reactions in the brain, producing very real changes in physiology and mood. Similarly, scenic subject matter—like a pristine beach or flourishing garden—have been proven to reduce stress, increase positive emotions, and promote physical well being.

The medical field is catching on, revamping hospital walls with colors and imagery proven to stimulate positive emotions and aid patients in the healing process.

Color and mood-setting is something we’re intimately acquainted with. In getting to know our clients, we determine what’s really important to them. From there, we choose a setting or landscape, specifically colored accessories and clothing, and even poses that reflect the desired tone. We never miss a detail!

Red is passionate, glamorous, and even a bit dramatic. It’s known to stimulate energy and can even rev up heart rate, respiration, blood pressure, and appetite.

Orange encourages warmth and enthusiasm. It’s a stimulant known to increase mental focus and energy.

Yellow is joyful, optimistic, refreshing, and balancing. In ancient cultures it was also known to purify the body and stimulate the nerves.

Blue is known to soothe, heal, and calm hyperactivity. It’s known to ease tension, lower respiratory rate, heart rate, and even blood pressure.

Green is most relaxing to the eyes, known to relieve stress and encourage vibrance. It produces a feeling of rest and tranquility.

Purple can be both rich and restful depending on the shade. It’s known to stimulate creativity, intuition, and peace.

White on its own gives off a clean, light, and ethereal feel. Mixed with black, the contrast can be subtle or striking, soothing or serious.

So what does this all mean for you? Experience the same daily benefits at home by consciously decorating your space with colors and images that inspire whatever mood you’re after.

In 2011 I was photographed by Chuck Arlund as a gift for my husband that Valentine’s Day.  It was such an exciting, yet nerve wrecking experience to have intimate photos taken of myself.  But boy was it liberating and unforgettable.  I cherish those photos and so does my husband hehe

I had seen a few photos from Je Revele online and thought they were amazing. As I flipped through the gallery I loved every shot and couldnt believe how beautiful everyone looked..at ease and peaceful. I never envisioned something like that for myself. Im high strung and tomboy’ish. One day I found an online special for the studio and decided to give it a try. Im too shy (for now!) for the sexy boudoir shots so I brought a few things to wear and ventured up the hill to the castle. I was in awe walking in and felt like I was going back in time. When you walk in the studio you are surrounded by warmth and laughter. Michelle did my make up (miracle worker!!). She put me at ease right away. I discovered that being surrounded by beautiful women and a beautiful location made me feel beautiful as well. Time flew by…..I was sad to see the shoot end but left feeling really great about the day and the new friends I made. When I came back for the viewing I was stunned at the amount of photos we had to go through and even though it was almost impossible to narrow my choices down to a small number (20!!) They made the process easy and comfortable. I’m pretty sure I could have stayed all night drinking champagne! I had no idea who this woman in the photos was….it wasn’t the me I see everyday when I look in the mirror. I was one of those subjects in the gallery…beautiful and at peace. I have shared some of the photos with my family and friends and the response has been amazing. (I feel like a rock star!!) I had the pictures taken for my Fiance and his response was priceless. I will be back for more!!! Je Revele is an experience everyone should have at least once in their lifetime!! ~ Jamie Hart

Thank goodness, I’m expecting our third baby this Spring.  I miss having a newborn.  As parents, there are a few things in life that change us forever.  Sometimes, the impact of these spoken words…. seem to happen in slow motion.  Often they sound like this:

“We’re having a baby”

RE-STYLING THE SWEET SIXTEEN

Turning sweet sixteen is not what it used to be. It’s still the first of life’s major milestones for American girls, but it’s become so much more than a right of passage. Many young girls approach their sweet sixteen celebration like they would a wedding, and while everyone loves a GREAT party, we wanted to create a new experience to give the next generation a fun and fresh way to celebrate in style.

As always, we set out to devise something truly unique and memorable. The result? The Je Revele Portrait Party: a fabulous fusion of pampering, partying, and hi-fashion photo shoot, set against the backdrop of a gorgeous castle. This is not your average photo session!

How does it work?

• Customize your package options. Choose things like professional hair and makeup, designer wardrobes, a 5-star dinner at the castle, and even chauffeur transportation.
• What’s your style?  Would you like to high-fashion photos, glamour or beauty portraits?      All of the above?
• Have the birthday girl gather her closest friends for a day of relaxation, beauty, and celebration.
• Allow our staff to indulge your party with complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
• Watch the girls live out their superstar fantasies as they strike their best poses for the camera. We’re open to different themes—creativity is welcome!
• Leave feeling fabulously refreshed, with gorgeous images of the day to relive over and over again.

As a mom myself, I know that the earliest days with a newborn are unpredictable.  With my older daughter, it was nearly 2 months before I photographed her.  If someone had offered to come to my home to photograph my daughter Gianvieve, who’s turning 5 this year, I would have jumped at the chance.    That first month was a blur.  I understand how busy life is, but let us come to your home.

I love capturing those tiny feet, wrinkled skin, rosebud lips and all the other joys of baby’s first days of life!  It’s my mission to make those early days amazing regardless of how unpredictable life can be.  With our in-home newborn studio, we give clients the option to come to our studio or:

• Your choice of an in-home session in the comfort of your own space;
• Optional traveling Je Revele beauty stylist to do your hair and makeup so you can participate and feel gorgeous during your newborn session.
• Our beautiful props, portable setups and tiny custom accessories, which we personally select for each session.

Because this magical stage of life passes in the blink of an eye, newborn portraits are captured within the first ten days of life while your little one is still well-fed, sleepy and content. The Je Revele team will keep your due date on file and stay in touch with you as the exciting day approaches, making adjustments to fit you in at just the perfect time.

Newborns are captured alone and with Mom and/or Dad. This session provides parents with beautiful images from your child’s most fleeting time of life. A tiny infant cradled in the Dad’s hands or held snugly in Mom’s embrace is a cherished image. Tiny features, hands and feet, a rosebud mouth, little ears, and soft tummies are the precious memories every parent wants to remember.

We do!  But I ask “Why?”

We may feel the person complimenting us is lying or being insincere. We need to embrace our own unique beauty!  How many times do you hear, “you look beautiful”, “you have a gorgeous smile”?  We doubt the compliment or politely say thank you.  I know I’m guilty of this myself.  But it feels good to feel beautiful to embrace the compliment and embrace our beauty.

All women are beautiful… but what matters most is how you see yourself. So, I ask… “When do you feel beautiful?”

Do you need an excuse to feel beautiful? No!!! You should feel beautiful every day!  One of our clients joked that this experience is an addiction… its something they want to do EVERY month.   The exhilaration… the excitement, there’s a high they feel afterward.  We rarely do things for ourselves… you know it, I know it.  Life it too short to not feel beautiful and enjoy every minute.  We’re grateful that our clients have had such incredible experiences and shared feedback with us.  We want to share this feedback  with you!

When I first decided to do this photography session, I was very apprehensive. I’ve never liked the way I look in pictures and couldn’t imagine that even a professional could change that. From the moment I spoke with them on the phone, I instantly felt at ease. They listened to everything I wanted to get out of this experience. The day of the shoot, Michelle did my hair and makeup and made me look fabulous. When I met Natalie, it was like I’ve known her all my life. After some champagne and a few “warm-up” photos, I began to relax, and with Natalie’s praise and encouragement, I began to feel more comfortable in my own skin. I went in today to see my proofs for the first time and I couldn’t believe the person I was looking at was actually me. It was difficult narrowing it down to my favorites because I loved so many. After years being the person taking all of my family’s photos I decided it was finally time to be in one and so I started looking for a photographer. What I found were artists.The Women at Je Revele made me feel like a celebrity from the moment I walked in to the Castle and the pampering never stopped. Michelle did a beautiful job with hair and makeup and was there for touch ups and changes as the shoot progressed. Natalie was incredibly helpful in posing and had the patience to get the perfect shot. She made me feel like a professional model, her energy was incredibly contagious I didn’t want the shoot to end. When it was time to pick photos I was presented with so many beautiful images and had a very hard time narrowing down my choices. A day with girlfriends in a castle setting with lunch, champagne, and a hair and makeup stylist…sound good so far? That’s only the beginning! Natalie made four “middle aged moms” feel like super models! After lots of poses, stories, and laughs with friends, we sat at a beautifully set table and shared a delicious catered dinner. The stories and fun times continued and the bonus of AMAZING photographs will last forever. I don’t think I’ll be able to wait for Valentine’s Day to give them to my husband! Mary

I love Je Revele Fine Art Photography. From the start, Natalie was an amazing person to work with. She called back within a day of receiving my voicemail, set up a phone interview to see what type of shoot we would go for, worked with my schedule to set up a date/time for the photo shoot- and did a phenomenal job. She listened to what I was looking for, asked insightful questions, and when I arrived at the shoot, she had it all set up perfectly for me! As this was my first photo shoot- and a risque one at that- I was a little nervous, but once I arrived and chatted with Natalie and went over what we’d be doing, had some hors d’oeurves, sipped on some champagne while getting beautified by make-up artist Michelle, it all fell into place and the photos came out amazing. I was extremely nervous and hesitant to step out of my shell and have such pictures taken, however I was made to feel at complete ease and as beautiful as ever. After, many years of sadness, ten to be exact, due to a terrible tragedy in my life, the loss of my youngest son at age 22. I decided it was time for me to be “ME” again! It was time to shine and start thinking about “living” life (just as he always thought) and not “surviving” life any more… so my decision was to start doing all those things which at one point were in my “wish” list and have left forgotten! One of the many items on my list: a photo shoot session … a “Boudoir” session as a gift to my husband and also hoping it would also help him make that step forward out of the “darkness”. My first encounter with Je Revele, was via a phone call where I expressed my wish and also gave her a background on my situation, it felt great she listened and we scheduled the photo shoot! I was getting closer to my wish.. The photo shoot, at the beginning I was a bit nervous, embarrassed and shaking .. but then Michele (make up artist) wonderfully and with the magic of her talent and brushes transformed me into an old Hollywood movie star! Then, sparkling wine and “The toast”, Michelle and I we toasted to him… he was my “ROCK” ! The photo shoot started and I could have been made to feel any more comfortable during the session! Her warm smile, her patience, her charisma and most of all her smile throughout the hours of shooting, made me feel FREE, as if I was on a “Magical Journey”and all my sadness and worries disappeared if not forever at least for a day! Her professionalism and talent showed not only throughout the photo shoot but of course once I saw the final product! At the time of picking up the photos I had a chance to meet the other half of this great and talented duo of photographers who represent Je Revele! I am very glad to have met them both, I am very glad I took a step towards a little bit of sunshine in my life and to have had such a fantastic experience for which I am deeply thankful!
